THE BASICS

1. Definitions

We’ll start by getting a few definitions out of the way that should help you understand this policy. When we say "we," "us," and "A Silk Addiction,” we’re referring to A Silk Addiction, a sole proprietorship. When we say “you” or “Customer,” we’re referring to the person or entity that’s viewing our website or purchasing products or services from us.

We market and sell products on http://www.asilkaddition (our "Website"). In the course of doing this, we may collect Personal information, which means information about a Customer.

2. Changes

If there are any changes to this Privacy Policy, we'll post them on the Website and, if we think they are significant, notify you of the change by contacting you at the last email address you gave us. Any changes will be effective as of the date we post on the Website. You may object to any changes within 20 days after they're posted on our Website, in which case none of the proposed changes will be effective with respect to information that we've already collected from you, but will apply only to information we collect in the future. We won't treat information of any open account differently from any other open account. If you object to changes in our Privacy Policy, we will terminate your account. That said, if we ever change our Privacy Policy to expand our rights to use or disclose Personal Information for marketing purposes, you'd be able to opt out without termination.

3. Effective Date

This Privacy Policy is effective with respect to any data that we've collected, or collect, about and/or from you, according to our Terms of Use.

7. Public Information and Third Parties

a. Blog. We have public blogs on our Websites. Any information you include in a comment on our blog may be read, collected, and used by anyone. If your Personal Information appears on our blogs and you’d like it to be removed, contact us here. If we’re not able to remove your information, we’ll let you know why.

b. Social Media Widgets. Our Websites include social media features, like the Facebook Like button. These features may collect information about your IP address and which page you’re visiting on our site, and they may set a cookie to make sure the feature functions properly. Social media features and widgets are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on our site. Your interactions with those features are governed by the privacy policies of the companies that provide them.

c. Links to Third-Party Sites. Our Websites include links to other websites, whose privacy practices may be different from A Silk Addiction’s. If you submit Personal Information to any of those sites, your information is governed by their privacy policies. We encourage you to carefully read the privacy policy of any Website you visit.

d. In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.  However, certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions.

For these providers, we recommend that you read their privacy policies so you can understand the manner in which your personal information will be handled by these providers.  In particular, remember that certain providers may be located in or have facilities that are located a different jurisdiction than either you or us. So if you elect to proceed with a transaction that involves the services of a third-party service provider, then your information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which that service provider or its facilities are located. As an example, if you are located in Canada and your transaction is processed by a payment gateway located in the United States, then your personal information used in completing that transaction may be subject to disclosure under United States legislation, including the Patriot Act.

e. SHOPIFY: Our store is hosted on Shopify Inc. They provide us with the online e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you.

Your data is stored through Shopify’s data storage, databases and the general Shopify application. They store your data on a secure server behind a firewall.

f. PAYMENT GATEWAYS: If you choose a direct payment gateway to complete your purchase, then Shopify stores your credit card data. It is encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your purchase transaction data is stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction. After that is complete, your purchase transaction information is deleted. All direct payment gateways adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.  PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers. For more insight, you may also want to read Shopify’s Terms of Service or Privacy Statement at http://www.shopify.com.

g. MAILCHIMP: We use MailChimp to help us communicate with you and to assist you in making your communication preferences known to us.  When we send mail to our registered customers, MailChimp will sometimes track who opened the emails and who clicked the links. They do that to measure our Email Campaigns’ performance and to improve our features for specific segments of customers. To do this, they include single pixel gifs, also called web beacons, in emails we send. Web beacons allow us to collect information about when you open the email, your IP address, your browser or email client type, and other similar details. We use the data from those Web Beacons to create the reports you see about who has or hasn’t opened emails or clicked links. MailChimp has their own privacy policy. You can read more about it at http://www.mailchimp.com.

Nobody's safe from hackers. If a security breach causes an unauthorized intrusion into our system that materially affects you, then We will notify you as soon as possible and later report the actions we took in response.

9. Safeguarding Your Information

To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.

If you provide us with your credit card information, the information is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL) and stored with a AES-256 encryption. Although no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, we follow all PCI-DSS requirements and implement additional generally accepted industry standards.

We do our best to keep your data accurate and up to date, to the extent that you provide us with the information we need to do that. If your data changes (like a new email address), then you’re responsible for notifying us of those changes.

We only store data about you for as long as it's reasonably required to fulfill the purposes that gave us the right to access it in the first place.

We'll give you access to any Personal Information about you that we hold within 30 days of any request for that information you make by emailing privacy@asilkaddiction.com. Unless it's prohibited by law, we'll remove any Personal Information about you from our servers at your request.
